The proposed South Corridor Transitway Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Program revitalizes the existing 20-mile South Dade Busway. Following the former route of the Florida East Coast Railway and running parallel to US-1 (South Dixie Highway), the transitway connects the communities of the Village of Pinecrest, Village of Palmetto Bay, Town of Cutler Bay, Unincorporated Miami-Dade County, City of Homestead, and Florida City.
This transitway is unique in its expansive reach across southern Miami-Dade County and its innovative use of dedicated bus operations to enhance regional mobility. However, this same uniqueness presents a design challenge—developing a cohesive aesthetic identity that is easily recognizable along the entire corridor while accommodating new transit station elements and infrastructure upgrades.
