The project involves the design, build, finance, and maintenance of Panama Metro Line 2, a 21-kilometer elevated light rail system that begins with a direct intermodal connection to Line 1 at the existing San Miguelito Station. The elevated rail viaduct extends over two major transportation corridors—the Domingo Díaz and the Panamerican Highway. The project added 16 new elevated rail stations, pedestrian bridges, and vertical access buildings. A future expansion phase will extend the line to Tocumen International Airport.
Perez & Perez provided architectural conceptual design, station area planning, prototype station designs, site planning, streetscape planning, and pedestrian mobility studies. The final design package features adaptable station prototypes tailored to varying site conditions, ensuring accessibility and seamless urban integration.
Panama Metro Line 2 strengthens the city’s evolving light rail network by accommodating an estimated 250,000 additional daily riders and enhancing overall connectivity across the metropolitan area.
